Simulation sometimes better than reality
Nothing is better than reality? This is not always true when our learning process is concerned. Of course simulation is known to provide a safe environment in which participants can train and experiment freely. Less acknowledged is the role that simulation can play to help see perspectives that are not accessible in reality. In simulation it is possible to experiment in simplified and abstracted realities. Especially it can help see the invisible, like for example the working of the inside of a battery. Using simulation can accelerate the development of expert concepts and mental models substantially.
